I suspect we are thinking from the same universe of thoughts, or at least, similar sets of ingredients.
Younger me abhorred the betrayal of Shia Iraqis (the Marsh Arabs) - and the Kurds victimized by Halabja. Older me...is more skeptical of heroic humanitarian interventions. Haven't we watched new technology deployed to generate new concepts of (toxic) heroism? In this insane universe, millions of people think a scam artist is a hero. Millions more think other things they're told to think about. If it can be done about immediate life and death interactions, then perhaps anything far away can be manipulated even more easily...
But NOBODY tells you to think and write what you are writing. In this small space we share, among so few who bother, we carve a realm that nods at all the exploitation, and yet insists upon remembering, trying, writing, creating. Yes, this world has its ugliness. But that is not all it has.
Thank you for your writing, and I shall look forward to reading more.
